Prospect Spotlight: Chauncey "Boogie" Sylvester

[9.23.2022 – Colin Magnusson]

This breakout junior season for Class of 2024 running back Chauncey “Boogie” Sylvester has
been a long time coming for the St. John Bosco Braves.

Growing up in Long Beach, Boogie has been dedicated to the game since the age of 4 with his
earliest memory at the same position he is proud to still play to this day; running back.

On the gridiron, Boogie’s junior campaign is off to a very good start and he has all the makings
of being a top back in his class.

Through 4 games on the top ranked team in the country and in a crowded backfield, Boogie has
291 yards on 5 touchdowns on an impressive 15.3 yards per carry.

One look at his game film from these first few games shows a ball carrier that is very decisive
with a powerful running style as well.

Recognized by the Bosco program as the team’s “speed back”, Boogie holds an offer from
University of Arizona and is being recruited by 10+ other notable Division 1 programs.

Boogie is a well-rounded kid who gives back to youth football players through a Southern
California organization named Next Level.

Up to this point – Boogie has taken unofficial visits to UCLA, Oregon, Alabama, Ole Miss, and
Arizona.

To summarize, Boogie is a junior running back on the radar of many schools who has worked
very hard to be in the position he is now in.

Boogie is certainly a name to keep an eye on as things heat up for the Class of 2024 related to recruiting.
